This year, on May 22–23, the Puszta Animal Park in Hortobágy will host the 30th National Gulyás Cooking Competition and Shepherd Gathering.
Participants will compete in traditional shepherd skills such as cattle catching, water drawing, lasso throwing, as well as handling the shepherd’s staff and the traditional whip.
The day will be made unforgettable by group whip-cracking, folk music, and dance house programs, while visitors can explore a folk craft market, taste traditional Great Plain shepherd dishes, and meet native Hungarian animal breeds.
